I filed in Pennsylvania ancillary probate and now I find out I must file another probate estate in Florida?

This is not something the Pennsylvania Administrator of a decedent’s estate wants to hear when they find out that is the only way the property held by the decedent can be transferred in Florida.

When is this is coupled with the emotional trauma associated with losing someone so close, the last thing anyone would want to handle is two probate estates and two different law firms!

The problem is the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania does not have jurisdiction over the property in the state of Florida.  To properly convey the title in accordance with a will (testate estate) or without a will (intestate estate), a probate estate must be opened in the state of Florida.

When we lose someone close, it feels like the world is crumbling.  Every effort to shore up the walls and the foundations of our lives are too difficult to endure.  There are too many decisions to be made.  There is no guide or direction and even if there was, who wants anyone telling you how to feel or what to do.

We are aware of these feelings.  We know because we have been through these same issues personally and in legal practice.  We work closely with you and your firm in Pennsylvania to make sure the ancillary probate is as seamless as possible.  We work to mitigate any pitfalls and stay on top of the timelines to expedite the process as quickly as the procedure allows.

During our initial consultation, we will go through the entire process with you from filing the petition for administration and appointment of the Personal Representative of Estate right down to closing the estate.  It does not have to be an overwhelming process.  We understand what you are going through and want to help you through this with as little difficulty as possible.

If you have lost someone close to you in Pennsylvania and need to address real property concerns or other probate issues of the decedent here in Florida, give my office a call.

I appreciate you taking the time to stop by my website.  Thank you and stay safe.
